A Crude Introduction to Mott Insulators (J.C. de Boer, 2015)

This one, I have written myself as part of my applied physics masters program. As the title says, it is written as a crude introduction to Mott insulators. It includes a first glance at the theoretical Hubbard model and some of its extensions, an introduction to the Vortex and Optical Mott systems and a short piece on a few special Mott insulating materials. You are of course very welcome to use any of it for whatever purpose you envision, but a reference would be nice.
